App redesign

 

Overview

Founded in 2015, Filld has raised $16 million to date, including a $9.65 million round in August of 2018. The 43-person company has partnerships with car2go, Bentley Motors, Volvo, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Filld has even expanded to Seattle for its mobile gas delivery service.

Goals

  • Collaborate with head of design and two engineers to upgrade the app

  • Create a design system to make it easier for the designs and engineers

Existing flow

I laid out the flow of the existing app to find holes and inconsistencies.
We then tested the app on existing users and found that the app was confusing and abrupt.

  • Users didn’t like that the app assumed they were standing with their car

  • Most of the time, users parked their cars and would order gas after they walked to their final destination

Solution

  • Users are able to see exactly what the area’s gas pricings are.

  • They can select their car and the quality of gas to add

  • They are then asked for the timeframe that works best for them

  • And finally able to select where the car is located

Project learnings

  • Users aren’t necessarily next to their cars when they want to order gas

  • Users want the convenience and flexibility of selecting the time when the delivery will be and where
